Hunter From Elsewhere: A Journey With Helen Britton
Overview
A shimmering bird in shades of blue made of dark metal, drops of stone falling from a cloud of iron, or a haunted house burdened with a curse shrouded in mystery - the works of respected Australian artist Helen Britton seem to come straight out of a lost treasure chest. But her art is contemporary: avant-garde jewelry, paintings and prints that are internationally recognized and sought after. On her travels, Helen Britton discovers forgotten factories and old production sites that bear witness to a bygone era. In her lyrical documentary "Huntress from a Foreign Land", filmmaker Elena Alvarez Lutz follows Helen Britton as she revisits the shipbuilding facilities and factories of her childhood in Australia and on her discovery tours, which range from the wilderness of Australia to the traditional gemstone cutters in Idar-Oberstein and the master glassblowers in Lauscha, Thuringia.
