Overview

In HEAVEN CAN WAIT - WE LIVE NOW, we discover the heart of Hamburg's choir, where all members are at least 70 years old and experience the indescribable feeling of freedom that only singing can offer. "When I sing, I feel free" - this emotion permeates the film as we watch six choir members on their courageous journey, daring to stand in front of an audience at an advanced age and reveal a piece of their soul. The challenge to open up and touch with their singing is great, because this "war generation" has never learned to talk about their feelings. Choir director C. Scheibe also struggles with his own limitations when he chooses modern hits like "Emanuela" by Fettes Brot, which require an inner attitude to be convincing on stage. In the midst of ups and downs, the choir develops into a second family and a refuge of the soul for its members. Together they manage to open up and captivate the audience while overcoming their inner barriers through their music and expressing genuine emotions.
