WAGNER, BAYREUTH UND DER REST DER WELT is not a biographical film about the composer, not a musicological analysis of his work, but a documentary film dedicated solely to the fascination of Wagner with a wink. Director Brüggemann shows the phenomenon of perhaps the most German myth through the eyes of Wagner fans all over the world. He explores the question of how such a hype and cult could develop around this highly controversial artist to this day, which seems to know almost only admirers and opponents.
