Young journalist Claire would really like to launch her own food blog "Cultural Eats", but the boss of the online magazine for which she works as a copywriter still sees Claire's future in writing silly quiz articles. Frustrated by the professional dead end and dejected by the break-up of her current relationship shortly afterwards, Claire urgently needs some time out - and decides to book a vacation on the Mexican Pacific coast. There, on Mariposa Beach, her deceased mother once spent seemingly happy days, and Claire wants to get closer to the past by retracing her memories. Once there, she not only quickly makes friends with the quick-witted hotel manager Esmeralda and the old innkeeper Juan, who knows more about her mother than he lets on, but also clashes with the cheeky chef Antonio, whom she can't stand at first. But then it turns out that Antonio has remarkable talents (not only) in the kitchen, and his heavenly creations soon turn Claire's food blog into an absolute online sensation. But Antonio doesn't think much of it, and Claire, who feels more and more attracted to him, slowly has to decide where her priorities lie...
