Another star for "Heat 2": Ebon Moss-Bachrach is being considered for the role of Kelso. According to TheWrap, Moss-Bachrach is reportedly in final talks. In Michael Mann's original film, the character was played by Tom Noonan, who passed away in February of this year at the age of 74. Guy Pearce was reportedly considered for the role earlier.

Most people are likely to recognize Ebon Moss-Bachrach from "The Bear." As Richard "Richie" Jerimovich, he played a central role for five seasons in the acclaimed series, which centers on gourmet chef Carmen "Carmy" Berzatto (Jeremy Allen White) , who takes over his brother Mikey's (Jon Bernthal) sandwich shop after Mikey's death. After a total of 47 episodes, the series went into well-deserved retirement this year. Shortly before the final season aired, a special episode titled "Gary" was released, focusing on Richie and Mikey. What makes this special is that Moss-Bachrach isn't just in front of the camera. Together with his co-star Bernthal, he also co-wrote the screenplay for "Gary."

But even outside of "The Bear," Moss-Bachrach's career is flourishing. Among other roles, he also appeared in the highly acclaimed "Star Wars" series "Andor." And he's also been making a name for himself on the big screen in recent years. Among his best-known film roles is that of the Marvel hero Ben Grimm, aka The Thing, whom he portrayed in the blockbuster "The Fantastic Four: First Steps" alongside Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, and Joseph Quinn.

Heat 2 continues the modern classic

If he does land the role in "Heat 2," he'll be appearing in yet another prestigious film. The 1995 original is a modern classic of the thriller genre. In addition to its urban atmosphere and superbly staged action scenes, the film captivates audiences with the clash between two screen giants. "Heat" centers on the gripping cat-and-mouse game between the gangster Neil McCauley (played by Robert De Niro) and the police officer Vincent Hanna (Al Pacino).

For "Heat 2," Michael Mann is once again directing and writing the screenplay. The film is based on the 2022 novel of the same name, which Mann co-wrote with Meg Gardiner. Reunion with Claire Danes

Howard Gordon had already worked with Claire Danes before "The Beast in Me." In 2011, she took on the lead role in "Homeland," a thriller series developed by Gordon and Alex Gansa that spanned eight seasons and a total of 96 episodes. In the role of the complex protagonist Carrie Mathison, Danes shone across the board and once again demonstrated her acting prowess. A director has been found for the new "Saw" movie! As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, Mike P. Nelson will direct the next installment of the horror franchise. David Oyelowo, who is best known for his roles in "Selma" and the Apple TV series "Silo", has been cast as journalist Mikael Blomkvist. Lisbeth Salander, meanwhile, will be portrayed by "The Crown" actress Viola Prettejohn. Prettejohn thus follows in the footsteps of Noomi Rapace and Rooney Mara, who portrayed the character before her.

"The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo", the first novel in author Stieg Larsson's "Millennium" trilogy, centers on former star journalist Mikael Blomkvist. After his career suffers a major setback, he unexpectedly receives a new assignment. Businessman Henrik Vanger asks him to investigate the mysterious disappearance of his niece, Harriet. The story is set in the present day

The series will not simply replicate previous adaptations. Instead, the producers have opted for a contemporary reinterpretation. This is also intended to adapt certain social themes from the novel to the present day. At the same time, the series aims to delve deeper into the history of the Vanger family. The series format in particular offers significantly more room for this. While David Fincher's 2011 feature film had to be limited to about two and a half hours, the Sky production can develop the characters and their relationships in greater depth over the course of several episodes.

According to initial reports, filming is set to begin as early as October of this year in Lithuania. It remains to be seen whether Sky plans to adapt the other books in the "Millennium" series beyond the first season. A premiere date has not yet been announced.

Stieg Larsson's Millennium Trilogy: These Adaptations Already Exist

With his "Millennium" trilogy, Swedish author Stieg Larsson created one of the most successful crime series of the past decades. The series centers on investigative journalist Mikael Blomkvist and hacker Lisbeth Salander, who together encounter dark crimes and powerful adversaries. Following Larsson's death, the three novels – "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo", "The Girl Who Played with Fire", and "The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest" – have been adapted for the screen multiple times.

The Swedish Trilogy

It all began in 2009 with the Swedish film adaptation of "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo". Noomi Rapace took on the role of Lisbeth Salander, while Michael Nyqvist starred as Mikael Blomkvist. Niels Arden Oplev directed the film. It tells the story of how Blomkvist is commissioned to investigate the mysterious disappearance of Harriet Vanger. In the process, he and Salander uncover a dark family secret.

"The Girl Who Played with Fire" and "The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest" followed later that same year. Both films were directed by Daniel Alfredson and, together with "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo", formed a cohesive trilogy. Unlike many later novel-to-film adaptations, the three books were thus adapted for the big screen in relatively quick succession.

The Swedish films established, above all, Noomi Rapace's portrayal of Lisbeth Salander as the definitive version of the character. The actress portrayed the hacker as an uncompromising, traumatized, and at the same time extremely resilient personality.

David Fincher's Hollywood Version

In 2011, Hollywood attempted a new adaptation of the first novel. David Fincher, director of "Fight Club" and "Seven", took on the direction of "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo". Daniel Craig played Mikael Blomkvist, while Rooney Mara starred as Lisbeth Salander.

Fincher's film once again followed the plot of the first novel but added its own twists. The story was reworked for an international audience, while Fincher retained the dark and at times oppressive tone of the original. That's because this screening features additional scenes that serve as a bridge to the upcoming Marvel blockbuster "Avengers: Doomsday." It's now clear what this new footage has to offer. As reported by several media outlets, "Avengers: Endgame Encore" features four additional scenes that serve as a bridge to "Avengers: Doomsday." Below, we describe what each one shows. But be warned: We'd like to explicitly point out the spoilers that come with this information.

A visit for Steve Rogers, aka Captain America

The first scene focuses on Steve Rogers, aka Captain America. His story in the Marvel Cinematic Universe had actually come to a satisfying conclusion in "Avengers: Endgame," where it was once assumed that we would never see the character again. As has been known for some time, however, the superhero will make a comeback in "Avengers: Doomsday." The new scene in "Avengers: Endgame Encore" sets the stage for Chris Evans' return as Steve Rogers.

At the end of "Avengers: Endgame," Rogers had traveled back in time to live out his life with his great love, Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell), in the 1940s. In the new scene, however, the two receive a visit from an old acquaintance: Suddenly, Loki (Tom Hiddleston) appears at the door. The former villain is wearing the uniform of the Time Variance Authority. Does this perhaps suggest that Steve Rogers' time travel had repercussions for the multiverse that now need to be discussed with the Time Variance Authority? We'll have to wait and see. In any case, the organization – which monitors various timelines – also plays a role in the next scene.

Multiverse collapses, Hulk returns

As is already known, the multiverse – or rather, the collision of different universes – is set to be a central element in "Avengers: Doomsday." This is also referenced in the second scene, which takes place within the Time Variance Authority and features, among others, Owen Wilson in the role of Mobius, a character he previously played in the "Loki" series. Together with several other characters, he observes that worlds are colliding. What's more, it appears that the entire multiverse is on the verge of collapsing.

The third scene bridges the gap from "Spider-Man: Brand New Day" to "Avengers: Doomsday." Bruce Banner, aka the Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), finds himself in a secure medical facility following the Spider-Man movie, which recently broke yet another record, as KinoCheck reported. Suddenly, the villain Doctor Doom (Robert Downey Jr.) appears there. Banner then transforms into the Hulk to confront Doom. It remains to be seen what will happen next with the Hulk. However, as the scene suggests, he could play an important role in Doom's plans.

Are Doctor Doom and Iron Man two sides of the same coin?

The fourth scene also features Doctor Doom. Specifically, it shows him forging his metal mask. An intriguing detail: The same sound of clanging metal can be heard here that was also featured in 2019 at the end of the credits of the original theatrical release of "Avengers: Endgame." Back then, the sound referenced how Tony Stark, aka Iron Man, once forged his superhero armor. Now, the same sound represents the villain Doctor Doom, who, like Iron Man, is also played by Robert Downey Jr. So are Doctor Doom and Iron Man two sides of the same coin? Given the existence of different universes, it certainly can't be ruled out that Robert Downey Jr.'s casting could also have significance in terms of the story in "Avengers: Doomsday."

Or will James Cameron's "Avatar" remain at the top after all? In 2019, "Avengers: Endgame" grossed $2.7 billion at the global box office. At the time, it dethroned "Avatar" as the highest-grossing film – until "Avatar" reclaimed the number one spot following a re-release in 2021. In addition to its massive box office success, the film also achieved a feat in terms of content: "Endgame" plausibly brought together countless characters from the Marvel Cinematic Universe and brought storylines for individual characters – developed over many years – to a satisfying conclusion.

A massive ensemble cast also awaits us in "Avengers: Doomsday." Gremlins fans will have to be patient for a while longer. According to industry magazine The Hollywood Reporter, Warner Bros. is pushing back the theatrical release of "Gremlins 3" by nearly a year. The DC blockbuster "Dynamic Duo" will also hit theaters three months later than originally planned.

The new release date for "Gremlins 3" is October 6, 2028. Chris Columbus, who wrote the screenplay for the first "Gremlins" in 1984, will direct the film. Hannah Marks is now serving as the screenwriter for the new film, building on an earlier draft by Chris Columbus and the writing duo Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein, known for "Final Destination: Bloodlines".

The plot has been kept under wraps so far. Joe Dante's 1984 original is about a boy who receives a cute little creature as a pet: a Mogwai named Gizmo. However, there are a few rules he must follow. The creature must never be exposed to sunlight. It also must not get wet. And it must not be fed after midnight. When the rules are broken anyway, Gizmo suddenly multiplies – and the offspring aren't quite as cute.

The film became a box-office hit and spawned the 1990 sequel "Gremlins 2: The New Batch". Joe Dante returned to direct. Charles S. Haas replaced Chris Columbus as screenwriter. It wasn't until 33 years later that "Gremlins: Secrets of the Mogwai", an animated series that so far comprises two seasons with a total of 20 episodes and serves as a prequel to the two theatrical adventures. The story is set in the 1920s, first in Shanghai and later in San Francisco.

Dynamic Duo Also Gets a Later Release Date

In addition to "Gremlins 3, "Dynamic Duo" is also getting a new release date. The animated film from the DC Universe was originally scheduled to be released on June 30, 2028. Now, September 22, 2028, is set as the new release date.

The story centers on Dick Grayson and Jason Todd, both of whom became Robin at various points in the comic book series and fought alongside Batman. According to insider Jeff Sneider, Logan Kim and "How to Train Your Dragon" actor Mason Thames are in talks for the two lead roles. Additionally, Chris Pine has reportedly been offered the role of Batman.

The project is taking an unconventional visual approach. Among other things, the film is set to combine animation, puppetry, and CGI. The screenplay is by Matt Aldrich. The film is being produced by, among others, James Gunn and Peter Safran, the minds behind DC Studios.

Also interesting is the timing in relation to another major DC project. "Dynamic Duo" is set to hit theaters just about seven months after "The Batman 2". The sequel to Matt Reeves' "The Batman" is currently scheduled for release in February 2028.

A possible "Glee" comeback is getting closer! Ryan Murphy has now spoken out about it and confirmed: There's already a script. When asked about a potential revival of the TV series, the co-creator of "Glee" told Entertainment Tonight:

"Well, funny you ask, 'cause I just finished the script an hour ago. So, yeah, we have a script. Brad [Falchuk] and Ian [Brennan] and I, who wrote all the first two seasons, have written something."

In addition to his comments about the finished script, Murphy also spoke about the original series' cast. His words offer hope that some of the stars from back then might be on board for a revival:

"I've been in touch with around ten of the original cast members. It's very sweet. They all had a lot of questions, but they all were very enthusiastic about the idea."

Lea Michele has commented on a potential comeback

However, the stars apparently haven't seen the script yet, as Murphy adds:

"Nobody's read it, so I don't know, we'll see. I vowed to myself that I wanted to write a couple of them to see what people think. Particularly the cast, cause we were very close when we were making it."

So nothing is set in stone yet. However, fans hoping for a comeback from their favorites can, based on Murphy's update, have legitimate hopes that a new season of "Glee" will happen in the future. Just two weeks ago Lea Michele, one of the original lead actresses, was asked about a possible reboot. She emphasized to E! News that the series holds a special place in her heart and that she would follow Murphy "wherever he goes."

The show centers on the glee club at the fictional William McKinley High School in Lima, Ohio. Director Robert Eggers has found his next film project! After his forays into the horror genre, he is now turning his attention to an absolute classic of literary history. As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, Eggers will direct a new adaptation of William Shakespeare's "Romeo and Juliet".

As with his previous films, Eggers is placing great emphasis on historical accuracy and authenticity in "Romeo and Juliet". This means that, in his interpretation, the actors will actually speak Old English. The story centers on Romeo Montague and Juliet Capulet, whose families have been enemies for a long time. Despite their parents' rivalry, the two fall in love. Shakespeare likely wrote the play in the 1590s. Since then, the story has been reinterpreted countless times.

Among the best-known film adaptations are Franco Zeffirelli's 1968 "Romeo and Juliet" and Baz Luhrmann's "Romeo + Juliet", starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Claire Danes in the lead roles. The black-and-white imagery, the unusual 4:3 aspect ratio, and the claustrophobic atmosphere give the film a very distinctive look. At the same time, Eggers deliberately leaves open which events are actually happening and which may simply be a product of the two men's perceptions. As in "The Witch", mythology and superstition play an important role here as well. Added to this are themes such as loneliness, guilt, and the destructive dynamic between two people who must get along in a very confined space.

The Northman: Eggers Takes on a Grand Viking Epic

In 2022, Eggers surprised audiences with "The Northman". The film tells the story of the Viking prince Amleth, who seeks revenge after his father's murder. Alexander Skarsgård takes on the lead role, while the ensemble cast includes Anya Taylor-Joy, Nicole Kidman, and Willem Dafoe, among others.

Although "The Northman" is significantly larger in scale than Eggers' previous films, his signature style remains unmistakable. Norse mythology, rituals, and historical details take center stage. At the same time, the director blends the Viking epic with elements of a classic revenge film. The film thus also demonstrates that Eggers is not limited exclusively to small-scale horror productions. He is equally capable of applying his distinctive aesthetic to much larger-scale cinematic narratives.

Nosferatu: A Classic Reimagined

With "Nosferatu", Eggers finally returned to his horror roots in 2024. This reimagining of the famous vampire tale tells the story of Thomas Hutter, his wife Ellen, and the sinister Count Orlok. Bill Skarsgård takes on the role of the vampire, while Lily-Rose Depp and Nicholas Hoult play the central human characters. Eggers combines the familiar material with his penchant for historical accuracy and a dark atmosphere. "Nosferatu" demonstrates particularly clearly how well Eggers' style suits classic Gothic horror. Rather than simply presenting the vampire as a monster, he creates a world full of decay, obsession, and underlying menace.

"Darkwing Duck" is returning – as a new series on Disney+. Reports surfaced five years ago that a reboot of the popular '90s animated series was in the works. Now, the new animated series has been given the green light, as Disney has officially announced.

A release date has not yet been set. However, exciting details and a first image have already been released. Among other things, the plot of the reboot has been revealed. The official synopsis reads as follows:

"For the last 35 years, Darkwing Duck has been trapped in his worst nightmare: an alternate world that's never heard of his superhero exploits. Now a rebellious teen named Duckie who knows all about his heroic past shows up to pull this ego-fueled vigilante back into battle. Together, this unlikely duo will get dangerous to fight old enemies like Negaduck and Megavolt and reunite with allies Launchpad, Gosalyn and Morgana to save the entire universe."

There is also a first look at the new series. An image of the grim-faced superhero Drake Mallard, aka Darkwing Duck, was posted on social media, as you can see in the following post (and at the beginning of our article):

Mark Hamill, Seth Rogen & Co.: The new voice actors for Darkwing Duck

The voice actors for the new animated series have also been revealed. The role of the hero Drake Mallard, aka Darkwing Duck, will be voiced by none other than Mark Hamill. The actor is best known for his role as Luke Skywalker in the "Star Wars" films. But he has also been involved in numerous productions as a voice actor. Among other roles, he lent his voice to Batman's archenemy: the Joker. Seth Rogen is another star on board who has also appeared in numerous films and series, most recently in the acclaimed comedy series "The Studio." In "Darkwing Duck," he takes on the role of Launchpad McQuack.

In addition to Hamill and Rogen, a number of other voice actors have been announced. The cast includes Lizzy Caplan as Gosalyn Mallard, Lilimar as Duckie, Dan Stevens as Glade McTowers, Tiffany Shepis as Rosa, Kathryn Newton as Firecracker, Teo Briones as Timb, Tyler Dean Flores as Pondsy, Katie Rich as Officer Shanks, and Nat Faxon as Officer Webb.

In addition to his voice role, Seth Rogen is also on board as a producer alongside Evan Goldberg, James Weaver, Alex McAtee, and Gabby Grantham. Sean Tretta and Borja Peña Gorostegui serve as executive producers. Tad Stones, the creator of the original "Darkwing Duck" series, consulted on the development of the new adventures.

Darkwing Duck: A hero of the '90s returns

The original "Darkwing Duck" animated series first aired in 1991 and ran for three seasons with a total of 91 episodes. Many viewers likely still remember the character fondly as a TV hero of their childhood. The Disney character proved to be a humorous alternative to other, more serious superhero stories and, after the animated series ended, also appeared in video games and comics. Among other things, a comic book series titled "The Duck Knight Returns" was published in 2010 by Boom! Studios. The title is an obvious nod to Frank Miller's classic comic "The Dark Knight Returns," which was published in 1986 and is still considered one of the most important Batman stories to this day.

With the Disney+ reboot, fans can now look forward to more adventures featuring Darkwing Duck. It has not yet been announced how many episodes or even seasons are planned. But we're already excited to see what the future holds for this hero.

Good news from Middle-earth: Filming for "The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum" is already in full swing. And now we get a behind-the-scenes look in the form of the first set photos!

This gives us a glimpse of the Shire set in Matamata, which previously served as the backdrop for Hobbiton in Peter Jackson's "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy and later in the "Hobbit" films. One image in particular catches the eye and is fueling speculation. The photo appears to show a hobbit, though only from behind. It is believed to be Frodo. It was already announced prior to production that Elijah Wood would return as Frodo Baggins.

Andy Serkis can also be seen in the photos. The actor is not only reprising his role as Gollum, but is also directing "The Hunt for Gollum" for the first time. However, this role isn't entirely new to him: Serkis already gained experience as a second-unit director during the "Hobbit" trilogy. A few days ago, Gandalf actor Ian McKellen also provided a special moment of nostalgia. The actor, now 87, will once again slip into the role of the wizard and, somewhat by accident, shared photos of parts of his costume. The images were taken during a video message that McKellen recorded for the Australian singer Troye Sivan.

Here's what The Hunt for Gollum is about

"The Hunt for Gollum" is set roughly between Bilbo's birthday party and the first gathering of the Fellowship. Gollum must leave his cave – familiar from the "Hobbit" films – to find the Ring again. At the same time, Gandalf sends Aragorn on a quest to find the title character. The film will therefore take place concurrently with "The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring". But we'll likely also take a look back: we'll see Gollum at a time before the Ring corrupted him. As the hobbit Sméagol, he was already seen at the beginning of "The Return of the King".

These actors will appear

The cast of the new Middle-earth adventure is already impressive. In addition to Elijah Wood, Ian McKellen, and Andy Serkis, we'll also be introduced to a number of new actors. Jamie Dornan takes on a central role. The actor from the film adaptation of the bestseller "Fifty Shades of Grey" replaces Viggo Mortensen as Aragorn. Previously, Leo Woodall's name had been mentioned several times as a potential replacement. As it turned out, the actor from the HBO series "The White Lotus" is indeed part of "The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum" – though he will not be playing Aragorn, but rather Halvard.

Kate Winslet, on the other hand, will take on the role of Marigol. Lee Pace, meanwhile, will once again portray Thranduil – just as he did in Peter Jackson's previous "Hobbit" films. Thranduil will be supported by Seren, a Sindar elf from the Woodland Realm. She will be portrayed by none other than Anya Taylor-Joy. Seren is not a character from the books by "The Lord of the Rings" creator J.R.R. Tolkien. Instead, the character was created specifically for the new film. The theatrical release of "The Hunt for Gollum" is currently scheduled for December 17, 2027.

"The Hunt for Gollum" isn't the only film from the "Lord of the Rings" universe currently in development. "The Lord of the Rings: Shadows of the Past" is also in the works – based on an idea by Stephen Colbert. The famous TV host drew inspiration from six chapters of the first "Lord of the Rings" book, "The Fellowship of the Ring". The story apparently picks up 14 years after Frodo's departure. Sam, Merry, and Pippin reflect on the early days of their adventure. Meanwhile, Sam's daughter Elanor discovers a long-kept secret. She wants to find out why the War of the Ring was nearly lost before it had even begun.

Fans can also look forward to the third season of the prequel series, which is set thousands of years before the events in Peter Jackson's "The Lord of the Rings" films. The new episodes of "The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power" will premiere on November 11, 2026, on Prime Video. And that's not all: Season 4 is reportedly already in development. Preparations are apparently in full swing. Filming for the new episodes is already slated to begin in early 2027.
