Smile 2 Ratings & Reviews
- Davinci3d agoim so scared  big smily jaw monster all in my mind help in my mind i kill mother but mother in real life very much alive ahhhhhhh help me
- thereelvoice4d agoSmile 2 delivers more of the same albeit with better fashion and catchy pop songs. Fans of the first entry will find this film entertaining but undoubtedly it will feel like a retread. Naomi Scott delivers a strong performance as pop star Skye Riley and that alone is worth the one time watch.
- JamieStJamesMarch 24, 2025This movie, like the first one, has so much potential, but is instantly ruined by the movie monster reveal in the end. This is an example of how a poor ending can ruin a decent to good movie.
- Michael FosterMarch 21, 2025Smile 2 scared the crap out of me with its turns that I didn’t see coming even though there was homages of the first— Writer/Director Parker Finn achieved something that is very rare here, unraveling more frights in this very dark place while still keeping it fresh. Naomi Scott’s performance of paranoia can be placed next to the very best in this genre such as Mia Farrow in ‘Rosemary’s Baby’. I encourage a second viewing if you roll your eyes at all. Nothing is missed here. Very impressive sequel. You’ll be wrapping your mind around it hours later if you pay close attention.
- ScottOctober 20, 2024Lady Raven would have known what to do. Addressed a few of the issues I had with the first movie. Dropped some of the more dramatic elements around isolation, loneliness, and mental health that were made problematic by the end and leaned more into the silly goofy loose smiling It Follows monster. Very confident step into franchise territory that I'm actually excited for because the end sets up a literal world of possibilities.
- Allie TranMarch 3, 2025How is the sequel even scarier?!
- RickFebruary 12, 2025I really enjoyed the first and this one was even better. It was creepy as hell. Naomi Scott was fantastic. The effects were mostly really well done. Just a great modern horror movie that doesn’t pull any punches. On another note, this movie had one of the best audio mixes I’ve ever heard. Lots of creepy shit going on all over the place.
- Scott SmithFebruary 12, 2025A rare horror sequel that's better than the original movie. Naomi Scott as "Skye Riley" really sells this one. She's great as the lead. This one is gory, tense, and has a few good jump scares. A fun and creepy idea to use a pop singer as the main character. Thumbs up!
- RyezooFebruary 4, 2025I am so pleasantly surprised by this series. I feel like the story is always pretty predictable, but the execution of the scares and the setups are always fantastic. Not to mention that stunning opening sequence to the movie. Hands down the best part!
- Jason FulceJanuary 24, 2025The grinning demon returns to torment a new slew unsuspecting victims. Naomi Scott shines as pop star Skye Riley who slowly descends into madness. The film surpasses the original with its gore and jump scares and delivers a crazy ending. Highly recommended!
- Desmond DaleJanuary 24, 2025I feel like this sequel makes some small steps forward in a couple of ways and giant steps back in others. For example I think Smile 2 does a better job of conveying how unsettling and ridiculous it must be to witness a character while they're engaged with the Smile demon. The decision to pantomime the possession makes for a more humorous and ludicrous spectacle especially from the third party perspective. Smile 2 also seems to have fewer instances of incessant jump scares. And pretty much all of the aspects that aren't related to say acting or narrative choices are flashier, bigger and more entertaining in ways. My biggest gripes with the film are at the most atomic parts of storytelling. Smile 2 doesn't add much to the lore and its attempts at establishing any sort of allegorical weight feel completely redundant and rooted in the footsteps of the first film. It's completely formulaic and vapid. The acting also seems less nuanced, devoid of the ruminations and mid-scale dramatic detail that made the first film oppressively effective. Also I understand why they axed the demon but somehow they managed to make the pantomiming feel goofier.
- N8December 28, 2024This was easily the best horror film of the year. The acting was incredible, with Naomi Scott absolutely stealing the show. The jump scares were easily the best of the year for me. I thought there were a few moments where they really subverted expectations and shocked me, and there was never a moment where I felt bored despite the 2 hour run time. The ending will probably stick with me for quite some time, it was nuts. The way the movie goes from reality to a nightmare is kind of reminiscent of what a modern Nightmare on Elm Street would look like. Absolutely loved it.
- TanalienNovember 2, 2024Smile 2 is an escalating staircase of tension. Starting off with a remarkable opening, I leaned into this film. Finn delivers a captivating journey, with the tension in his story rising like a Shepard Tone, a sound that feels like it can ascend in pitch forever. Eventually though, the film demands a fitting conclusion that halts the tone. That is why it is unfortunate that the ending of Smile 2 is unsatisfying.
- brycowardDecember 1, 2024More than the original in many ways, but while more made for some interesting scenes, it made the overall story feel like a fantasy or fever dream. Perhaps that's fitting for a horror movie monster that's a parasite, but knowing more about the evil force seldom makes for a scarier flick. Smile 2 is no exception there. But what it loses in story silliness it tries to make up for in jump scares and gore, both of which are done well.
