Enigmatic pop legend Alfred Moretti (John Malkovich) finally resurfaces after two decades out of the limelight with the promise of a new album. To celebrate the launch, he invites a select group of music journalists to his remote desert estate for an exclusive listening party. Ariel (Ayo Edebiri), an ambitious young writer, wonders how she got lucky enough to be included amongst the veteran critics. But as the weekend unfolds, Ariel suspects that each invitation was maliciously targeted, as guests soon realize that Moretti has a far more deadly encore in store.
